Reno Nevada Real Estate

Reno Nevada, the biggest little city in the world, is northern Nevada's secret in the desert. Reno boasts the amenities of Las Vegas with a quieter, more relaxed feel. Reno has got the edge on Las Vegas and here's why: less crowds, better air quality, abundant summer and winter recreation opportunities in nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains offering some of the best skiing in Northern California, seasonable summer temperatures, cool summer nights, and mild winters to name a few.

The Reno real estate market is nearly dead at this point in time. Homes are not selling and desperate sellers are taking drastic measures to get out. We have seen some homes in the $275K price range that are priced as much as $75K below what they were purchased for in the last 6 to 18 months. Speculators are saying the trend has about reached its bottom and do not expect prices to continue to fall much more. If they are right, now may be a great time to buy in the Reno area. We have seen nice 3 bed 2 bath homes with 1800 square feet and 2-3 garage spaces selling right now for about $250,000K. With the current dead real estate market in Reno, the buyer has the ultimate bargaining power and unfortunate sellers may have to take huge losses to avoid forclosure.

With the explosion in the real estate market over the last few years, Las Vegas has become unaffordable and far too overcrowded. From the brown cloud of air pollution that looms over the city to the traffic jams and congestion on the roadways, Las Vegas is hardly the ideal place to live. What you can do in Vegas, you can do in Reno without the crowds or heat. Lake Tahoe is just a 45 minute drive from Reno and offers summer recreation including everything from boating and watersports to hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing and other recreation. Winter brings dozens of feet of fresh snow to the areas many ski resorts.

Within Reno there are also abundant recreational opportunities including golf courses and a full park and recreation system including activities for youths to seniors.
