Virginia City offers a rich history in a now small community
Virginia city is a historic mining town where about 1500 people make their home in Storey County, Nevada. Mostly elder folks live in Virginia City as there is not much work outside of the tourism industry. Virginia City is the site of the Comstock Lode days which was once a booming gold and silver mining town in the days of the Civil War. Virginia City is located just 23 miles southeast of Reno and about 15 miles northeast of Carson City, Nevadas's State Capitol. Virginia City is at an elevation of 6220 feet above mean sea level and thus experiences harsher winters than the Reno area which sits at only 4500 feet elevation. Virginia City usually sees about 15 inches of precipitation per year. Walking and driving tours are possible in Virginia City, touring the historic mining areas.

Small to average size homes are also quite expensive in historic Virginia City, usually not selling for under $400K.
